This webinar introduces clinicians to the therapeutic use of collage as a low‑barrier, research‑supported intervention that enhances expression, regulation, and meaning-making—especially for clients who struggle with verbal communication. Participants learn why image-based work is effective for trauma, neurodivergence, and emotional processing, and how collage can be integrated into existing modalities without requiring art therapy training or artistic skill.

The webinar covers the neuroscience and clinical rationale behind collage, populations who benefit most, and the specific goals it can support, including grounding, emotional identification, narrative development, and assessment. Emphasis is placed on ethical use within scope of practice, avoiding interpretation, and honoring client-led meaning-making.

Through demonstrations, prompts, case examples, and optional experiential practice, clinicians gain practical tools for facilitating collage safely and confidently in individual or group settings, in person or via telehealth. Participants leave with clear strategies for introducing collage, asking clinically appropriate questions, and using image-based work as a bridge back into talk therapy.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
  • Explain why collage is uniquely effective for clients who struggle with verbal expression, young ages, language barriers, etc.
  • Identify clinical goals collage can support (expressing experiences, regulation, insight, narrative, assessment).
  • Facilitate collage experiences safely and ethically within non-art therapy practice.
  • Ask clinically appropriate questions that honor client meaning-making.
  • Integrate collage into existing treatment modalities without abandoning talk therapy.

Please gather a few simple supplies for the webinar:
• A couple of magazines or printed collage images
• Scrapbook paper or colored paper
• Stickers or any decorative extras you enjoy
