This workshop will focus on the benefits of utilizing creative interventions, specifically journaling, poetry, stories, music and nature therapy in our clinical work to facilitate positive therapeutic outcomes. Renae will provide an overview of the neuroscience and literature
supporting the use of these interventions and the positive benefits they yield. Attendees will also have an opportunity in a safe setting to utilize writing, journaling, poetry, and music to experience first-hand the profound effects these interventions can have. We will also identify
how to bring these creative interventions into our clinical work to foster healing, hope and resilience with our clients.

Objectives
  • Review neuroscience behind writing, music, and poetry that supports their capacity to heal trauma and other mental health conditions.
  • Practice utilizing writing, poetry, and music interventions.
  • Review the neuroscience and research supporting Ecotherapy/nature therapy in the treatment of trauma and other mental health conditions.
  • Identify strategies for using all these creative interventions in our clinical work.
