Position Openings

Executive Director
Family Service Society, Inc. is looking for an experienced full-time, salaried, Executive Director to oversee day to day operations of Family Service Society, Inc. and all affiliated programs.  Candidate must possess the ability to inspire employees, Board of Directors, volunteers and donors to carry out the organization’s vision and mission. Responsible for maintaining official records and complying with federal, state and location regulations, this individual must be organized, with experience in fundraising, planning, delegating, and program development.  Experience managing a significant budget and maintaining a positive relationship with other non-profit organizations and funders is required.  
 
Professional Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree preferred, as well as 5+ years in a management role at a non-profit or not-for-profit human services organization preferred.  EOE

  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, and decision-making
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Ability to convey a vision of Family Service Society’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sectors
  • Ability to collaborate with and inspire board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
  • Strong public speaking ability
 
The organization:
Family Service Society, Inc. offers a full range of services designed to meet the needs of families and individuals in the home, workplace, and community. Our professional staff is comprised of social workers, counselors, therapists, prevention specialists and youth workers. Family Service Society is committed to helping people from Steuben County and the surrounding area. 
 
In addition to individual and family counseling, we offer structured after-school and youth programs, along with specialized counseling for sexual abuse and domestic violence, and a mentoring program for youth.  Services are available in several convenient locations throughout Steuben County.



Youth Mentoring of the Southern Tier - Site Coordinator - Youth & Law Enforcement Program in Bath, NY
Family Service Society, Inc currently has an opening for a 10 hour per week YMST Site Coordinator Role:
 CHANGE THE LIFE OF A CHILD THROUGH MENTORING IN THE YOUTH AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM IN BATH, NY. Family Service Society, Inc. is interviewing for a part time Site Coordinator position linking adolescents in need of social/emotional support with local law enforcement officers volunteering as mentors. The Site Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing weekly program activities targeted to address the unique needs of youth at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. Acts as a liaison between the program, Bath Police Department, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Steuben County Probation Department and other agencies to identify and recruit mentors, youth and their families who are interested in participating in the program. The Site Coordinator provides ongoing support to mentor-mentee matches and documents progress. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience in human services field, public speaking, case management skills and ability to work independently required. The position is 10 hours per week and requires facilitating one weekly group meeting between mentees and mentors in the Bath area. Criminal background check conducted. Valid NY State Driver's License, reliable transportation, and auto insurance which meet agency standards are mandatory. EOE
