Parent Educator COME MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF FAMILIES AND CHILDREN! Family Service Society, Inc. is interviewing for a Full Time Parent Educator position in its Family Focus program providing in home parent education for families facing the challenges of child abuse/neglect. Parent educators use family strengths and community resources to help parents learn to provide a safe, nurturing home environment where children can grow and thrive. The program provides family support, parenting education, in home visits, and enhanced/coached visitation to children in or at risk of entering foster care along with information/referrals to additional community services. This position will focus on the needs of families with adolescent children also at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services with previous experience working with families and youth required. Master’s degree preferred. Responsible for provision of in home parent education services, accurate and timely completion of required documentation, ability to collaborate with DSS and other providers and strict adherence to confidentiality required. This position is 35 hours/week, requires some evenings Monday through Friday with travel across Steuben County. Criminal background check conducted. Site Coordinator - Youth Mentoring of the Southern Tier - Bath, NY CHANGE THE LIFE OF A CHILD THROUGH MENTORING IN THE NEWLY CREATED YOUTH AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM STARTING IN BATH, NY. Family Service Society, Inc. is interviewing for a part time Site Coordinator position linking adolescents in need of social/emotional support with local law enforcement officers volunteering as mentors. The Site Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing weekly program activities targeted to address the unique needs of youth at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. Acts as a liaison between the program, Bath Police Department, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Steuben County Probation Department and other agencies to identify and recruit mentors, youth and their families who are interested in participating in the program. The Site Coordinator provides ongoing support to mentor-mentee matches and documents progress. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience in human services field, public speaking, case management skills and ability to work independently required. The position is 10 hours per week and requires facilitating one weekly group meeting between mentees and mentors in the Bath area. Criminal background check conducted. Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LCAT, or LMFT) COME AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF CHILDREN! Family Service Society, Inc. is interviewing for a salaried, full-time (35 hours/wk.) NYS Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, LCAT, or LMFT). Professional License must be in good standing and current. An applicant who has just graduated and is permit eligible may be considered. Therapist is responsible for client assessment, developing a mutually agreed upon treatment plan, and delivery of therapeutically sound interventions to provide outpatient counseling to children, adolescents, and families affected by child sexual abuse mainly in the Corning Office but could spread throughout Steuben County into the Bath and Hornell Areas. Therapist will need to utilize their experience, education, age-specific knowledge, and cultural competence to assist children in achieving positive and successful outcomes. Schedule requires two evenings until 7pm, other days end at 5pm. Clinical experience providing specialized therapy services to child victims of sexual abuse is highly desirable, good written and verbal communication skills, positive solution-focused attitude, excellent teamwork, and timely and thorough documentation of services are required.
