YOUTH DEDICATE DAY OF SERVICE TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF LAURA RICHARDSON HOUGHTON
Youth from the Laura Richardson Houghton Corning Youth Center recently took part in a special day of service on April 9, 2021, to honor the memory and legacy of the woman whom the center is named for - Mrs. Laura Richardson Houghton. Youth and staff participated in spring clean-up activities at the Hope Annex Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life and tree planting in Mrs. Houghton’s memory at the Youth Center’s 79 Flint Avenue location. Laura Richardson Houghton was a devoted Board member and instrumental force in the 1986 founding of the Youth Center. Mrs. Houghton passed away in 2003. The Center was renamed in her honor in 2014.

GST BOCES Heavy Equipment Program Students Help Family Service Society Make Some Children a Little Happier on Christmas Morning Family Service Society, Inc. is very fortunate to receive many holiday gift donations. This makes it possible for many children to receive presents on Christmas morning. Last week, we had an especially impressive donation. Students (the seniors made the trip, but the juniors in the program also helped!) from the GST BOCES Heavy Equipment Program in Coopers stopped by our Princeton Ave. Ext. office with a whole fleet of heavy equipment toys that we will be able to distribute to children in need! Thank you to these students and their instructors in the Heavy Equipment program!!
